Community Safety Strategies Meeting

  • Old Stone Church - Memorial Hall 91 Public Square Cleveland, OH, 44113 United States (map)

The City of Cleveland Community Relations Board is meeting with the Community Police Commission members to follow up with the consent decree from the Department of Justice. They will speak to residents regarding mandates set. You input is welcomed and encouraged.

The meeting planned on April 13th is a Community Strategies meeting. The City of Cleveland Community Relations Board is forming a community strategies group in each district. The focus is on safety, with a group of people who will work collaboratively and proactively with the safety forces, to amplify issues relating to safety in the neighborhood.

·       Community Relations Board Director Blaine Griffin will direct the conversation and Commander Stephens and staff from the Community Police Commission will also be present. An overview of the Consent Decree between The City of Cleveland and U.S. Department of Justice will also be shared.

·       We will discuss what matters to people in the neighborhood and strengthening relationships between community residents and safety forces. This is an opportunity for everyone involved to express their feeling and concerns about where they live and to make the neighborhood safe.

The DCRA shares the belief with the Community Relations Board and the Cleveland CPC that the pathway to transforming and strengthening the Cleveland Division of Police in order to build legitimacy and transparency, must be paved with community input and trust, as well as a belief in the dignity of human life.
